Researchers win Syngenta Crop Challenge
Climate change and the constantly growing world population raise the crucial question: How will we be able to grow enough food to meet the growing global demand? Today, industry and science rely on data-driven strategies for more robust and efficient plant breeding. On the basis of environmental and growth data and profound expert knowledge, the “Fraunhofer Research Center for Machine Learning” and the Excellence Cluster “Phenorob” at the University of Bonn have developed an Artificial Intelligence that assesses environmental conditions in agriculture and their impact on plant growth. With this technology, our researchers won the 2019 Syngenta Crop Challenge.
